Description:

As a member of the Micro and Nano Analysis Lab, you will be expected to use advanced characterization tools and your knowledge of metallic, ceramic, polymeric, and biological materials to study their surface physics, chemistry, microstructure, and, properties to enable the development of new products and processes. You will be expected to participate in dynamic multidisciplinary teams developing and implementing new surface treatments and coatings on metals, ceramics, polymeric, and biological materials.

Utilize ToF-SIMS, AFM, XPS, Auger, and other analytical techniques to understand the effects of surface chemistry and properties on material behavior. Correlate surface structures and chemistries to engineering behaviors such as corrosion, high temperature oxidation, wetting, chemical resistance, adhesion, etc. Prepare samples for analyses; maintain analytical instruments, and construct research reports and other communications.

As a Surface Materials Scientist, working in large multidisciplinary teams you will:

.Conduct basic and applied research in the areas of surface analysis and engineering.

.Stay current on state-of-art surface analysis equipment and methods and propose and implement new capabilities to provide added value.

.Interact with other characterization teams to provide total characterization solutions to GE projects.

.Fluent in all technical terminology aspects of Materials Characterization

.Communicate research results to internal and external stakeholders through reports and presentations of your work.

.Prepare proposals to external funding agencies.

.Work with external funding agencies to identify research opportunities in line with GE’s long-term technology needs.

.Handle multiple projects and stay on schedule for project deliverables.
