Institute of Earth Sciences at Academia Sinica, based in
Taipei, Taiwan, seeks a manager for the Academy-wide CAMECA
NanoSIMS 50L laboratory facility that will be installed in
spring 2013. The members of the NanoSIMS laboratory come
from various institutes of Academia Sinica, initially
including Astronomy and Astrophysics, Earth Sciences and
Environmental Changes, and will pursuit a range of research
topics covering the aforementioned fields.
The manager will oversee day to day operations of the
NanoSIMS including maintenance, troubleshooting, helping
develop new analytical protocols, and training/assisting
external users to obtain high quality data. Personal
research is encouraged to the limit of time and manpower
availability. Candidates should have at least a B.S. degree
in Physics, Chemistry, Geosciences or Nuclear Engineering;
an advanced degree is preferred. He or she should also have
minimum two years of experience in analytically challenging
research topics with mass spectrometry (e.g., SIMS, TOF-SIMS,
TIMS, ICP-MS…etc.). Proficiency in English is required;
knowledge in French is a plus. This position is initially
for two years with a possibility of developing into a
tenure-track research appointment. Salary and rank of the
position offered will be commensurate with experience.
