Information for Students
One of the fundamental goals of
the workshop is to develop and maintain SIMS as a premier scientific technique.
To achieve this goal, the Workshop organizing committee believes it is essential
to attract, encourage and foster the development of newer members of our
community. In this spirit, we will provide limited financial support to
full-time graduate students studying SIMS. In order to be considered, students
must submit an abstract for presentation and a letter of support from their
research advisor. Some student award recipients may be selected for oral
presentations in a special student award session.
A full time student who wishes to
be considered for a student stipend award must submit three copies each of
an abstract for presentation and letter of support from the student's research
advisor. The letter must state that you are a full time graduate student in
his/her research group.
The deadline for receipt is April 6, 2012. Preparation of your Abstract
is as follows:
- Abstracts are to be typed on
8.5"x11" paper.
|
- Abstracts can be one to three pages
total in length. This includes figures and references.
|
- The title, student's name and
affiliation is to be centered at the top of the first page, followed
by text and figures.
|
- A 1" margin at the top of each
page, and a 1" margin on the left, right and bottom of each
page is required.
|
- A letter of support from the
student's research advisor must be on top of the submission and must
provide contact information for the research advisor and the
student.
|
- The letter must state that you are
a full-time graduate student in his/her research group and be placed
on top of the package.
|
- Three
copies of the Abstract are
to be submitted for SIMS Workshop Committee review and acceptance.
|
